My philosophy is not the hardcore “no red meat ever!” that most people expect of a dietitian. There is certainly room for all foods in a healthy, balanced diet. Will eating a chocolate cake one night ruin your life? No! Will eating chocolate cake, OR ice cream, OR buttered popcorn, OR 15 chocolate candies, OR potato chips every night ruin your life? Yes! We have all done something ridiculous in our lives. I don’t believe anyone has perfect habits all the time. However, striving towards eating well is a very worthy life goal.

As you can see, what I’m trying to convey is that eating well is all about balance. It’s also about paying attention to what, how much and how you eat. As I like to say, “An ounce of dark chocolate a day keeps the doctor away, along with eating 7 servings of fruits and vegetables.” There is limitless research on the subject of nutrition, everything from antioxidants to foods that reduce inflammation. How does all of this research relate to you? Let me help you figure it out. Sadly, we seem to be a very desperate population that desperately wants a quick fix. You can’t undo 15 years (or even 9 months) of weight gain, or a lifetime of bad eating habits, in a short period of time. A warning in advance, the path to true nutritional enlightenment is long and arduous, and I guarantee you it’s not about losing 30 pounds in 5 minutes. We now know that “dieting” doesn’t work, even though fad diets continue to hit the media at the rate of 1 per day. I am always amazed at how many people still ask me what I think about the cabbage soup diet! I think it’s no good! Excluding most foods, or even any one food group IS NOT GOOD! Mother nature has been bountiful with the variety of foods she has created, for good reason. Variety is extremely important to make sure our bodies get all of the nutrients they need for optimal functioning.

I have seen people heal their lives through nutrition. With my experience I can help you make slow but steady changes that will result in you feeling much better than you do right now.
